Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
258 PM EDT Thu Apr 19 2018

...Low humidities with diminishing winds are expected Friday...

.DISCUSSION...Good dispersion early this evening will become
fair by midnight, allowing the nighttime inversion to form.
Cooler and drier air will continue moving in overnight as
breezes from the north diminish.

Fog potential for tonight: Fog is not expected due to dry air
and weak low-level mixing overnight. The dry airmass will
continue to inhibit any fog development Friday night.

High pressure from the north-central Plains will build
across the eastern US through early Sunday, keeping mostly
clear skies and lighter winds over the area.

Surface winds Friday will be from the north-northeast at
5 to 10 mph with a few gusts to 15 to 20 mph in the morning,
then diminish to less than 5 mph during the afternoon.
Transport winds will become northeast at 10 to 15 mph,
then diminish to 5 to 10 mph during the afternoon.
Relative humidities will drop to around 20 percent.
