...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1989, a single thunderstorm produced 17 tornadoes over a
relatively small area along the Kansas and Nebraska border over a
period of 2 and a half hours. As many as 4 tornadoes were observed
on the ground at the same time in Phillips County Kansas.

In 2007, eight tornadoes occurred over NW Kansas with one home
heavily damaged in southern Rawlins county. In Yuma county,
Colorado heavy rain produced widespread flooding and road washouts
during the day.
