Flood Statement

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Indiana...Kentucky...Illinois...

  Ohio River at Newburgh Dam...Mount Vernon...J.T. Myers Dam...and
  Shawneetown

.Runoff from recent heavy rain and additional forecast rainfall will
cause minor flooding to continue along portions of the lower Ohio
River from Newburgh Dam to Shawneetown. Minor flooding is expected,
with forecast crests expected to occur Friday and Saturday. The
river will fall below flood stage at these locations during the
early to middle portion of next week.

For the Ohio River at Newburgh Dam...Mount Vernon...J.T. Myers Dam...
and Shawneetown, minor flooding is expected.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MONDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Ohio River at Mount Vernon.

* WHEN...Until Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 40.0 feet, Farm land and some main roads are flooded
  in places southwest and west of Mt. Vernon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 6:00 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 37.7 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 38.6
    feet Friday morning. It will then fall below flood stage late
    Monday morning.
  - Flood stage is 35.0 feet.

* WHEN...Until Thursday, April 18.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 9:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 36.2 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 38.7
    feet early Saturday afternoon. It will then fall below flood
    stage Wednesday, April 17.
  - Flood stage is 33.0 feet.
