.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 238 AM CDT Wed Apr 10 2024

The cooler, more stable air mass behind the cold front will allow
for a break from the severe weather. We could see a few storms
this morning in the Big Country and northern Heartland, but these
should stay sub severe and move out to the east around noon. The
main weather concern today will be the winds. The surface low will
be off to our east, keeping our winds strong from the
north/northwest until it moves off to the east this evening. Wind
speeds are forecast to be right below wind advisory levels, with
sustained wind speeds around 25 mph this afternoon. Wind gusts
near 40 mph are possible as well, particularly for the southern
half of the area. Winds will weaken in the evening, eventually
decreasing to 10 mph or less for tonight. Temperatures today will
be below normal, with highs in the low 60s to low 70s and lows in
the 40s tonight.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday through Tuesday)
Issued at 215 AM CDT Wed Apr 10 2024

Upper-level ridging will build across the area, with drier
conditions and warming temperatures from Thursday and into the
early part of next week. High temperatures will peak on Sunday and
Monday in the mid 80s to mid 90s, and overnight lows in the upper
50s to mid 60s. Gusty southerly winds are expected for the end of
the week and over the weekend, with the strongest winds ranging
from 15 to 30 mph and some gusts up to 40 mph on Friday. With the
drier conditions and windy weather on Friday, elevated to near
critical fire weather conditions are expected across much of West
Central Texas. The next upper level low will track through the
through the Desert Southwest and eastward across West Central
Texas on Monday. Models are showing a dryline setting up across
the area with the pacific front pushing through the area Monday
evening into Tuesday morning, which could bring the next round of
precipitation to our area. With the models not in full agreement
yet on the timing and placement, confidence remains lower at this
time.
