FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
605 AM EDT Wed May 23 2018

...One more dry day today, then becoming humid with showers and
thunderstorms at times for the remainder of the week...

.DISCUSSION: High pressure will linger over the area today,
providing one more day of low relative humidity, bottoming out at
17 to 25 percent in the interior. Fortunately, sustained winds
will be mostly under 10 mph. Where lake breezes pass, winds will
gust to 10 to 15 mph at times. Under mostly sunny skies,
temperatures will rise into the 80s away from the Great Lakes. As
a warmer, more humid air mass begins to stream toward the Upper
Great Lakes tonight, isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms may develop over far western Upper Michigan late
tonight and then into central Upper Michigan on Thursday. Minimum
relative humidity on Thursday will be 35 to 45 percent, and winds
will gust to around 15 mph. South to southwest winds should gust
to 15 to 20 mph on Friday with relative humidity falling to as low
as around 40 percent over the west half of Upper Michigan.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday and
Saturday. While locally heavy rainfall could occur with some of
the storms, a widespread, soaking rainfall for Upper Michigan
looks very unlikely, and it`s possible some locations may receive
very little rainfall. Some showers may linger into Sunday before
dry weather returns for Memorial Day.
