SUBJECT: New forecast service for the Fox River at Waukesha
in Waukesha County, Wisconsin
Beginning May 1 2018 the National Weather Service (NWS)
Milwaukee/Sullivan Forecast Office will begin providing river
forecast services for the Fox River at Waukesha. These forecasts
will be provided as needed when flooding becomes a concern.
Currently river products for this location are issued based
on the observed water level and not a forecast value.
The NWS Location Identifier is WKEW3.

The NWS defines flood stage as the river level or flow value at
which impacts to life and/or property begin.
Flood stage is designated at 6 feet. The moderate flood level is
established at 8 feet, with major flooding beginning at 10
feet. Forecasts will be issued when water levels are expected to
exceed 5 feet, and flood warnings will be issued when water levels
are expected to reach or exceed the flood stage level.

River flood information is also broadcast on NOAA Weather Radio.
