Today, showers and thunderstorms are expected across the area this afternoon and evening. Some are expected to be severe, with strong winds up to 75 mph, large hail, and tornadoes possible. Rainfall amounts are generally expected to be less than 1 inch, although isolated areas (mainly east of Hwy 281 and across north central Kansas) may receive 1+ inches of rain. High temperatures will be generally in the 60s with a few 70s west and south. RH values will remain high most of the day, but may fall as low as 20-25 percent across our far western counties late this afternoon behind the cold front. Winds will be strong today, with south to southeast winds gusting to 40-45 mph this morning ahead of the front, and southwest winds gusting to 25-30 mph this afternoon behind the front. Winds will diminish to 10-15 mph tonight. Tuesday, conditions will be drier with high temperatures in the 70s. Winds will be westerly and still windy with gusts of 30-35 mph throughout the day. RH values will fall to 20 to 25 percent across the majority of the area Tuesday afternoon.
