...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 AM HST THIS
MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY...

At 640 AM HST, radar indicated rapidly diminishing rainfall over the
Kohala and Hamakua Districts. Rain rates have fallen well below 1
inch per hour. Highway 270 near mile post 5 near Kawaihae Harbor is
currently closed due to flooding. Area stream gauges remain elevated.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
         properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
         closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible
         in steep terrain.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Waikoloa Village, Kapaau, Honokaa, Kohala Ranch, Kawaihae, Pololu
  Valley, Waimanu Valley, Kamuela, Waipio Valley, Puako, Halaula,
  Kukuihaele, Hawi, Mauna Lani, Waikoloa Beach and Mahukona.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.
