.DISCUSSION...
A warm and humid airmass remains in place across the TN Valley
early this morning, with a few showers expected to develop after
sunrise as a warm front lifts northward through the region. The
warm front should focus afternoon thunderstorm activity to the
north of the region today. However, chances for a wetting rainfall
will increase for the entire region overnight, as a broad complex
of storms will spread southeastward ahead of an approaching cold
front. Lingering rain and storms will continue across northern AL
late Thursday morning before ending from NW-to-SE Thursday
afternoon as the cold front shifts southeastward. Smoke dispersion
index values will be in the good category today, but will fall
into the generally good range on Thursday due to abundant cloud
cover/lower mixing heights and lighter transport winds of 15-20
MPH. In the extended forecast period, we expect low chances for
rain to continue through Friday morning, followed by dry
conditions this weekend. Chances for rain and a few storms will
return on Monday/Tuesday.
Fog potential over the next few days: None at this time.
