Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
100 PM CDT Fri May 3 2024

.DISCUSSION...

A Fire Danger Statement remains in effect through this evening
over southeast New Mexico and the Guadalupes where fuels are
critically dry and winds are elevated. Relative humidity remains
critically dry behind the dryline each afternoon this weekend with
at least localized elevated to near-critical fire weather out west.
The dryline is pushed east of the entire region Monday through
the middle of next week. Increasing wind speeds result in critical
fire weather, especially with western extent. A cold front late
in the week may bring improvements to the region. Recovery remains
poor out west and any rainfall is expected to remain further east
of the driest fuels. Lightning starts may be of concern this
weekend.
