Survey Summary:
During the late evening hours of March 14th, a short and bowing
thunderstorm line segment advanced north northeast through central
McCurtain County, producing a brief quasi-linear convective system
(QLCS) tornado just on the west side of Highway 259. The tornado
began in a wooded area about five miles north of the town of Broken
Bow, exhibiting a convergent pattern of tree uproots and trunk
snaps. The tornado then moved across a few properties and did
minor to major structural to two homes and major damage to a few
outbuildings. A single family residence had significant roof damage
and it is fortunate the residents inside recieved no injuries. The
tornado quickly exited this area and veered more northeast through
a largely inaccessible wooded area. On the south side of the
Hochatown community, the tornado produced considerable roof damage
at a hotel on the west side of Highway 259. The tornado lifted
just in the wake of this structure as the survey team could find no
further evidence of tree or structural damage to the north and no
evidence that the tornado crossed Highway 259.

A special thanks goes out to the McCurtain County Emergency
Management Community for their assistance in locating the damage.
