Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
943 AM EDT Wed May 1 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.6 inch low pressure currently over south central
Lake Superior continues lifting into northern Ontario as it
weakens to 29.7 inches today. Ridging builds to 30.1 inches over
the Upper Great Lakes tonight, then shifts east on Thursday as a
29.7 inch low pressure tracks across the Upper Mississippi
Valley. The low then lifts north over northwestern Ontario
Friday. A weak 30.0 inch trough pivots across the lake Saturday
morning ahead of ridging that builds to 30.1 inches by Saturday
evening; this ridging persists through Sunday. The ridging leaves
the Upper Great Lakes Monday as a deepening low lifts off of the
Northern Rockies into the Northern Plains.
