Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
359 PM EDT Mon Apr 29 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 30.6 inch high pressure over Hudson Bay is shifting
northeast into Quebec this evening. Meanwhile, a 29.7 inch low
pressure over Wisconsin will track northeast, crossing western
Lake Superior tonight and exiting into Ontario Tuesday morning as
it weakens to 29.8 inches. During Tuesday afternoon and evening,
a weak high pressure ridge of 29.9 inches will shift east across
Lake Superior while a low pressure trough of 29.6 inches moves
from the western Plains to Minnesota and Iowa. This trough will
weaken to 29.7 inches as it sails across Lake Superior on
Wednesday. As a 30.0 inch ridge then shifts east across the
western Great Lakes during Wednesday night, a 29.3 inch Colorado
Low will lift out over the Plains while weakening to 29.5 inches.
This low will then track to the Upper Mississippi Valley on
Thursday and into northwestern Ontario on Friday. As the low
reaches the Hudson Bay shores Saturday afternoon at 29.6 inches,
a ridge of 30.1 inches builds over Lake Huron.
