Fire Weather Planning Forecast For CEN/ERN VA...NE NC...MD ERN SHORE
National Weather Service WAKEFIELD VA
327 AM EDT Sun Jun 7 2026

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST NORTH
CAROLINA...

.DISCUSSION...
Highs in the upper 80s to mid 90s (most in the lower 90s) and
min RH of 30-35% across S VA/NE NC and 40-50% north of US-460 are
expected today. Locally lower RH values of 25-30% are possible
across portions of NE NC. WSW/W winds gust up to 20 mph today.
Given the dry conditions and abnormally dry surface fuels, an
Increased Fire Danger Statement remains in effect for portions of
NE NC today. Isolated to scattered showers and storms are
expected this afternoon into this evening with the greatest chance
across the VA Piedmont. However, a widespread, wetting rain is
not expected. Onshore flow and higher RH values are expected Mon
with drier weather returning on Tue.
