We should see coverage continue to expand through the night and into the morning hours. A few rumbles of thunder is possible but most of the activity will be a soaking rainfall The rain should be out of east Alabama by sunset. There will be a slight change in the air mass as surface winds become northerly on Wednesday. The humidity will drop some but afternoon temperatures will warm into the middle and upper 80s. 16 && .LONG TERM... (Through next Sunday) Issued at 211 PM CDT MON APR 29 2024 Weak upper ridging continues Thursday and will result in very warm afternoon temperatures with no rainfall. Some areas across south Alabama may reach 90 degrees on Thursday. A northern stream short wave will push a trof axis into Alabama Friday, which then stalls out over Alabama Saturday and Sunday. Scattered mostly diurnal storms expected Friday through Sunday. 58/rose && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1252 AM CDT TUE APR 30 2024 A shortwave is currently moving through the area. We are going to see an increase in showers through the night with a slight chance of thunder. Right now the chances for thunder remain less than 30 percent so will leave it out of most TAFS, with the exception of TCL, but amend if needed. As the rain moves in, ceilings will drop to MVFR, with some tempo IFR across the north. Big improvements after 18z west of I-65, 21z for the rest of the sites. 16 && .FIRE WEATHER...
