.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

1) An upper ridge will remains over the area on Wednesday with
dry weather and warmer temperatures.

2) A weak cold front on Thursday bring a chance of showers east
and slightly cooler temperatures Friday.

3) Ensembles continue to show unsettled conditions at times this
weekend but there remains large spread in where and how much
precipitation occurs over NE Montana.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Upper ridging will remain in place tonight and Wednesday with
warmer and drier weather conditions expected to prevail. A cold
front will push through on Thursday with slightly lower
temperatures to follow into the weekend. Isolated thunderstorms
may develop ahead of the cold front on Thursday, especially over
SE zones. Ensembles continue to show low pressure tracking south
of the region this weekend but enough consensus has been built to
maintain scattered pops. This suggests around a 30 percent chance
of measurable precipitation during this time with the scattered
showers/thunder this weekend, especially south of Highway 2.

CONFIDENCE AND POTENTIAL DEVIATIONS FROM BASE FORECAST:

Confidence remains high for clear skies and light winds tonight
and warmer temperatures on Wednesday. High confidence exists for
the cold front on Thursday. Moderate confidence exists of
precipitation chances Thursday with the front and into the
weekend. There were no deviations from the base forecast,
generally staying close to NBM.
