Severe weather is not expected. - Thunderstorms are again possible (up to a 35% chance) Saturday night through Monday night across portions of the area. - High temperatures will be in the 60s to 80s and low temperatures will mostly be in the 40s and 50s. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 308 PM CDT Tue May 7 2024 Today and tonight... An upper level trough/low is centered over the northern Plains and northern Rocky Mountains. Gusty westerly winds are across south central and central Nebraska and north central Kansas with temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Winds will decrease this evening with slight chances (15% to 25%) of rain showers across portions of the area as a shortwave moves overhead. Low temperatures tonight will mostly be in the 40s. Wednesday through Thursday night... The upper trough will become more centered over Nebraska and Kansas on Wednesday. Winds on Wednesday will range from the west to the north and will not be as strong as today. High temperatures will be in the 60s and 70s. There is a slight (less than 25%) chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night as a shortwave moves over the area. Low temperatures Wednesday night will again mostly be in the 40s. A weak cold front will move into the area on Thursday resulting in high temperatures mostly in the 60s. Rain and storm chances (up to around 35%) will increase Thursday along and behind the front. Low temperatures in the 40s are expected Thursday night. Friday through Monday night... The upper trough will move east of the region on Friday with Nebraska and Kansas on the backside of this feature. Winds will be gusty out of the northwest on Friday across south central and central Nebraska and north central Kansas. High temperatures in the 60s and 70s are expected Friday and low temperatures Friday night in the 40s. A slight warm up is expected on Saturday with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Low temperatures Saturday night will be in the 40s and 50s. The warm up continues into Sunday with highs in the upper 70s to the lower/mid 80s. Chances of showers and thunderstorms (up to 35%) increase Sunday afternoon into Sunday night as an upper disturbance moves over the area. Low temperatures Sunday night will mostly be in the 50s. Issued at 1237 AM CDT Wed May 8 2024 VFR conditions expected through the TAF period. SCT to BKN mid- high level clouds will persist overnight, with skies clearing around sunrise. While uncertain on precipitation, some SCT cumulus development is possible this afternoon, ending around sunset. Southwesterly winds will become westerly around sunrise, and become northwesterly this morning. Gusts will increase this afternoon, reaching 15-18Kts, with the strongest gusts expected at EAR. Winds will quickly decrease around sunset, becoming light and northerly overnight.
