Subject: New river forecasts and warnings for the Kennebec River
           near Hallowell, ME.

Effective at 1200 Coordinated Universal Time on Monday September
30, 2019, the National Weather Service will begin river forecast
and warning services for the stream gage on the Kennebec River at
Hallowell ME. The forecast point has been established coincident
with the recently installed U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
streamflow gage (01049330). The NWS Location identifier HALM1 has
been assigned to this location. Forecasts for Hallowell will be
issued on an as-needed high flow basis. Forecast information will
be available on the internet at
https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=gyx&gage=halm1
and through all standard NWS dissemination methods.

In coordination with local and state officials, the following
flood stages have been established relative to gage zero.

          Minor flood stage       11 ft
          Moderate flood stage    13 ft
          Major flood stage       18 ft

These new flood stages will be referenced in flood warnings,
flood statements, and flood advisories for this location. In
accordance with standard NWS procedure, forecasts and warnings for
this location will be relative to an ice-free flow. Seasonal ice
may impact the location.
