.DISCUSSION...
Upper ridge across the Eastern Pacific and the west coast pushed
temperatures to around 4 to 6 degrees above normal on Wednesday.
The ridge will remain in place today and nudge temperatures a few
degrees higher. Maximum temperatures this afternoon are forecast
to be around 7 to 10 degrees above climatological normal for this
time of year.

A weak disturbance over the Eastern Pacific will move through on
Friday. Moisture and instability are marginal but look sufficient
for at least some cumulus buildups along the Sierra and possibly
isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and early
evening.

Relatively flat ridging returns over the weekend. Little change
in maximum temperatures is expected Friday through Monday. Here
are probabilities for a high temperature of 83 degrees or higher
for locations in the San Joaquin Valley.
