Tranquil weather across the Tennessee Valley early this morning as
high pressure continues to promote clear/calm conditions. However,
some changes are coming as a deepening mid/upper trough well to
the northwest across the central Plains will shift into the Mid-
Mississippi/lower Ohio Valley. In response, a warm front will
gradually lift NE from central Alabama into the Tennessee Valley
by this evening. Cloud cover will increase steadily ahead of this
boundary this afternoon and especially by this evening. These
clouds will serve to stunt heating during the afternoon hours,
capping our highs in the mid to upper 70s once again. Some weak
lift and limited moisture will also create low chance for rain
showers across out southern and western zones, mainly between
21-00z.

.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight through Sunday night)

Latest guidance hints at some slightly better chances for
precipitation tonight as the front lifts northward through the
region. Moisture will be somewhat limited which will keep PoPs in
the low to medium range (25-40%), with the highest values
favoring northwest Alabama. By early/mid Friday morning, rainfall
will taper off from north to south as the boundary lift north.
Mostly cloudy conditions in the morning will gradually break-up
during the course of the day, though at least partly cloudy
conditions will linger through the day on Friday. Still, with very
breezy southerly winds (gusts 20-30 MPH), and some partial
sunshine will push highs into the low to mid 80s by the afternoon.

High pressure will establish itself just east of the area this
weekend, with southwesterly flow and ample sunshine pushing
temperatures into the 80-85 degree range both Saturday and Sunday.
A tightening pressure gradient will also make for continued
breezy conditions, with gusts again in the 20-30 MPH range at
times both Saturday and Sunday. Clouds will also increase across
the region on Sunday ahead of an approaching cold front still well
west of the area. However, in spite of increased moisture
(dewpoints in the upper 50s-lower 60s), the lack of a lifting
mechanism will again keep the forecast rain-free.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Wednesday)

Another mid/upper-level trough will sweep NE from the Southern
Plains into the Mid-Mississippi Valley and Great Lakes region Sunday
night into Monday. In response, a surface cold front will push
eastward across the lower-Mississippi Valley and Mid South during
the day on Monday. The latest guidance continues to trend a little
later with this feature, meaning that most likely Monday will be
another warm/dry day. However, by Monday night into Tuesday,
medium chances (40-60%) for showers/storms are forecast along and
just ahead of this cold front as it pushes into the area. Not
expecting much in the way of an air mass change behind the front,
however, as highs will only dip back a few degrees on Tuesday. We
may begin to enter a more unsettled pattern by mid/late week as
another front may attempt to push in sometime late Wednesday of
next week.

VFR conditions will prevail through the period at both terminals.
Cloud cover will gradually increase by this afternoon ahead of an
approaching front, but ceilings will remain above 10 kft. Winds
will remain light and out of the north to NNE.
