Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL

.DISCUSSION...

Moderately strong SSW winds in the low-levels will maintain a
warm and humid airmass across the TN Valley from today through
Wednesday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible this
afternoon as an outflow boundary drifts southeastward into the
region. Additional convection is expected during the early morning
hours on Wednesday, which will offer the highest probabilities
for wetting rainfall over the next 36 hours, as the coverage of
showers and storms on Wednesday will be limited within the capped
warm sector of a surface cyclone to our northwest. Smoke
dispersion will be in the generally good-good range both today and
tomorrow, with mixing heights between 3500-4500 ft and transport
winds of 20-25 MPH. In the extended period, a widespread wetting
rainfall event is expected on Wednesday night/Thursday morning as
a broad complex of thunderstorms will cross the region during this
timeframe. After lingering rain ends on Thursday, we only
anticipate a few light showers on Friday/Saturday. A cooler drier
airmass will be advected into the region in the wake of a cold
front, providing highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.

Fog potential over the next few days: None at this time.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
