.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Tue Apr 16 2024

Currently - An Atlantic surface ridge stretches westward across
northern Florida and along the Gulf coast. The incoming airmass
has been increasingly modified over the past 48 hours. While
temperatures are not far from where they were 24 hours ago, dew
points are quite a bit higher in the upper 60s to near 70. Deep
layered ridging remains in control with a formidable subsidence
inversion still based around 900 mb and substantial dry air above.
Scattered stratocumulus is present, mostly across the Florida
Straits. In addition, a few showers now dot the distant Straits.

Short Term Update - Surface winds will remain moderate out of the
east northeast along the island chain through the overnight period
due to the ridge to our north. Deep layered ridging and dry air
from the lower levels up will remain in place. As a result,
somewhat warmer and decidedly more humid conditions will prevail,
rain chances will remain slim to none.
