...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and
increased in duration for the following rivers in Montana...

  Clear Creek at Chinook affecting Blaine County.

For the Clear Creek...including Chinook...Major flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE FRIDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
  forecast.

* WHERE...Clear Creek at Chinook.

* WHEN...Until late Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet water is about 2 to 3 feet deep in corrals
  along Clear Creek.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 11:30 AM MDT Wednesday the stage was 8.0 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 11:30 AM MDT Wednesday was 8.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 8.2
    feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early
    Friday morning.
  - Flood stage is 5.5 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    8.2 feet on 09/25/1986.
