006 FXUS65 KVEF 200549 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 949 PM PST Mon Jan 19 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... * Above-normal temperatures and sunny skies expected for the first half of the work week. * Pattern shift late-week into the weekend will increase cloud cover and drop temperatures slightly. && .DISCUSSION...Today through Sunday. Ridging will continue over the western United States for much of the week, resulting in mostly sunny skies and above-normal temperatures. Winds will generally be light, though persistent breezy north winds (with occasional gusts) can be expected each afternoon this week along the Colorado River Valley. Impacts will be minimal, but expect wave heights between 1 and 2 feet on Lake Mohave as a result. Otherwise, we`re looking at a pattern change late-week into the start of the weekend. Ensemble means continue to show a closed low pushing inland into southern California / northwestern Mexico on Friday. The system does not have much moisture with it, so the primary expected impacts include increased cloud cover and slightly decreased temperatures (though remaining at or slightly-above normal). That said, a handful of individual members indicate that some locations may experience measurable precipitation, but if that were to come to fruition, we are not expecting more than a couple hundredths for the Mojave Desert and southern Great Basin at this time. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Winds will remain light, 8 knots or less, through the TAF period and will follow typical, daily directional trends. VFR conditions will persist with FEW to SCT high clouds AOA 15 kft filtering through the area on Tuesday. For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast California...For the 06Z Forecast Package...North winds at 10-15KT with occasional gusts of 20-25KT will continue down the Colorado River Valley, specifically KIFP, through the overnight period. North winds in the Colorado River Valley will increase further on Tuesday morning with gusts to around 30 knots expected at KIFP. Outside of the Colorado River Valley, winds will remain light, 10 knots or less, and will follow typical, daily directional trends. VFR conditions will persist with FEW to SCT high clouds AOA 15 kft filtering through the area on Tuesday. && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating procedures. && $$ DISCUSSION...Soulat AVIATION...Stessman For more forecast information...see us on our webpage: https://weather.gov/lasvegas or follow us on Facebook and Twitter
