National Weather Service Las Vegas NV

.SYNOPSIS...A warming trend will occur the next few days with light
winds today followed by afternoon southwest breezes Monday and
Tuesday. A mid-week system brings a brief cooldown and north winds,
but warming quickly resumes to end the week.
&&

.SHORT TERM...through Monday.

Warm temperatures and light winds are in store for our region today
as we sit under a slight ridge ahead of a trough approaching the
Pacific Northwest. The base of that trough will brush the northern
Great Basin on Monday resulting in afternoon southwest breezes 15-25
mph. Temperatures will climb 4-5 degrees each day leading to highs
in the 80s today and in the mid 80s to lower 90s on Monday across
the desert zones.

.LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday.

Trough across the PacNW and northern Rockies Tuesday will amplify,
digging southeast across Nevada and Utah Wednesday-Thursday. South
to southwest winds on Tuesday will shift from the north Wednesday
into Thursday with the passage of a dry cold front. The strongest
period of gusts will occur behind the front Thursday. Other than
Thursday`s brief cooldown, temperatures for the week will be running
about 5 to 8 degrees above normal.
&&

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.

&&

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...No significant impacts expected today
as a southwest wind around 5 kts become north to northeast after 16z
this morning. Wind speeds will generally remain around 7 kts or
less. After 21z, look for winds to become light and variable before
becoming southwest around 7 kts after sunset. Just a FEW clouds over
the higher terrain this afternoon.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...Gusty west winds will continue through the overnight
period near KDAG with speeds between 10-20 kts. These winds will
gradually diminish through mid-day becoming light and variable this
afternoon. Elsewhere, look for typical diurnal winds less than 10
kts. Just a FEW afternoon clouds over the higher terrain. &&
