.NOVEMBER 2018 WAS COLDER THAN NORMAL WITH BELOW NORMAL
PRECIPITATION AT BRAINERD MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR NOVEMBER WAS 23.7 DEGREES WHICH WAS 6.4
DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 30.1 DEGREES...MAKING THIS TIE THE 13TH
COLDEST NOVEMBER IN STATION HISTORY. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE
MONTH WAS 46 DEGREES ON THE 2ND AND THE 23RD. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE
WAS -5 DEGREES ON THE 20TH. NO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE BROKEN
FOR THE MONTH. SEVEN DAYS HAD AVERAGE TEMPERATURES ABOVE NORMAL.

NOVEMBER 2018 WAS BELOW NORMAL FOR PRECIPITATION WITH A TOTAL OF
0.73 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION RECORDED FOR THE MONTH. THIS WAS 0.81
INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 1.54 INCHES. THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF
PRECIPITATION IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD OCCURRED ON THE 5TH WHEN 0.39
INCHES WAS RECORDED. AT LEAST A TRACE OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED
ON 18 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.01 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL ON 7 DAYS. AT
LEAST 0.10 INCHES FELL ON 2 DAYS. NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS
WERE BROKEN FOR THE MONTH.

NOVEMBER 2018 WAS BELOW NORMAL FOR SNOWFALL WITH A TOTAL OF 4.1
INCHES OF SNOW RECORDED FOR THE MONTH. THIS WAS 4.3 INCHES BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 8.4 INCHES...MAKING THIS TIE THE 14TH LEAST SNOWIEST
NOVEMBER IN STATION HISTORY. THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF SNOWFALL IN A 24
HOUR PERIOD OCCURRED ON THE 10TH WHEN 1.5 INCHES OF SNOW WAS
RECORDED. ONE DAILY SNOWFALL RECORD WAS BROKEN THIS MONTH. ON THE
18TH 1 INCH OF SNOW FELL. THIS BROKE THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF A TRACE
SET IN 1978, WHICH WAS TIED IN 1987 AND 1994.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE MONTH WAS 8.2 MPH. THE WINDIEST DAY
OF THE MONTH WAS ON THE 24TH WITH AN AVERAGE WIND OF 13.4 MPH. THE
HIGHEST SUSTAINED WIND OCCURRED ON THE 9TH WITH A SPEED OF 25 MPH
OUT OF THE NORTHWEST. A PEAK WIND GUST OF 32 MPH OUT OF THE
NORTHWEST WAS RECORDED ON THE 9TH.

THERE WERE 1233 HEATING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS 186
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 1047. THIS BROUGHT THE SEASONAL TOTAL HEATING
DEGREE DAYS TO 2222 WHICH WAS 273 ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 1949. THERE
WERE 0 COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS NORMAL. THE
SEASONAL TOTAL COOLING DEGREE DAYS STANDS AT 569 WHICH IS 147 ABOVE
THE NORMAL OF 422.

THE OUTLOOK FOR DECEMBER...NORMAL HIGHS BEGIN IN THE UPPER 20S AT THE
BEGINNING OF THE MONTH AND COOL TO THE LOW 20S BY THE END OF THE
MONTH. NORMAL LOWS FOR THE MONTH BEGIN IN THE MID TEENS AND COOL TO
THE SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO BY THE END OF THE MONTH. NORMAL
PRECIPITATION FOR DECEMBER IS 0.81 INCHES. NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR
DECEMBER IS 9.7 INCHES. THE LATEST CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK
INDICATES THAT ODDS ARE TILTED TOWARD ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND
BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR DECEMBER.
