RAINFALL...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 65.8 DEGREES...WHICH WAS
3.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS IS THE 19TH WARMEST SEPTEMBER. THE
AVERAGE HIGH WAS 75.2 DEGREES.  THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 56.3 DEGREES
WHICH IS TIED WITH 1882 AND 1948 FOR THE 13TH WARMEST. THE HIGHEST
TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 93 DEGREES ON THE 17TH. THE LOWEST
TEMPERATURE IN SEPTEMBER WAS 34 DEGREES ON THE 29TH.

LA CROSSE RECEIVED 6.08 INCHES OF RAIN DURING THE MONTH WHICH WAS
2.52 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. THE GREATEST 24-HOUR AMOUNT WAS 1.44
INCHES OF PRECIPITATION THAT FELL ON THE 4TH.

A RECORD RAIN FELL ON SEPTEMBER 4TH WHEN 1.44 INCHES FELL.  THE
PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 1.22 INCHES IN 1968.

A RECORD HIGH OF 93 DEGREES WAS TIED BACK ON SEPTEMBER 17TH.  THIS
OCCURRED BACK IN 1955 AND 1988.

2018 WILL GO DOWN IN THE RECORD BOOKS AS THE 19TH WARMEST SEPTEMBER.
THIS THE 5TH TIME THIS DECADE WHERE A SEPTEMBER FINISHED AMONG THE
20 WARMEST SEPTEMBERS.

ON SEPTEMBER 11TH, THE LOW TEMPERATURE FELL TO 49 DEGREES.  THIS WAS
THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAD OCCURRED SINCE MAY 20.  THIS 112-DAY
STRETCH WAS THE 4TH LONGEST TIME PERIOD IN WHICH THE TEMPERATURE DID
NOT FALL BELOW 50 DEGREES. THE ONLY YEARS WHICH HAD LONGER STRETCHES
WAS 1884 (129 DAYS - MAY 31 THROUGH OCTOBER 6), 1881 (129 DAYS - MAY
5 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 100, AND 2016 (120 DAYS - JUNE 9 THROUGH OCTOBER
6).

IT WAS THE 21ST WETTEST SEPTEMBER WITH 6.08 INCHES OF RAIN.  THE
LAST TIME THAT WE WERE THIS WET IN A SEPTEMBER WAS 2016 WHEN 10.46
INCHES (3RD WETTEST SEPTEMBER) OF RAIN FELL.  MUCH OF THIS RAIN FELL
FROM SEPTEMBER 1-5 (3.05 INCHES - 50.2 PERCENT OF THE MONTHLY
RAINFALL) AND SEPTEMBER 17-21 (2.76 INCHES - 45.4 PERCENT).
