.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Wednesday)
Issued at 334 AM EDT Tue Apr 30 2024

Showers and thunderstorms currently to the west are pushing into
north GA mainly as showers. Much of the thunderstorm activity
remains in ALabama. Expecting this broken line to move through the
area resulting in showers affecting much of the area. Daytime
heating will increase the instability for the area which will result
in increased chances for thunderstorms as the broken line pushes
through central GA. Not expecting anything severe but could see a
couple of strong thunderstorms. After this shortwave moves
through, expecting ridging to push back in with NW winds drying
out the area. Nudged dewpoints down for Wednesday due to the NW
winds. Highs in the upper 80s are forecast for Wednesday.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through Monday)
Issued at 334 AM EDT Tue Apr 30 2024

At a glance:

- Hot.

- Chance for afternoon thunderstorm this weekend and into next week.

With the ridge firmly in place, temperatures are expected to climb
into the mid to upper 80s again on Thursday afternoon. Overnight
lows will be in the low to mid 60s so the AC will probably need to
work overtime.

A short wave will bring the chance of thunderstorms north of I-20 on
Friday night and into Saturday. This may help moderate temps in
northern Georgia to the low 80s and upper 70s; still around 5
degrees above normal for this time of year. While that wave is
expected to clear the area by Sunday, winds will shift to the SSW by
the end of the weekend providing the CWA with enough moisture to
kick off pulse convective season. As a result, most of the CWA has
at least a slight chance for PoPs in the early afternoon beginning
Sunday.
