WELL ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES THROUGH AT LEAST FRIDAY...
.Discussion...
Hot, dry, and breezy weather is expected this afternoon. Except
for along the immediate coast where the sea breeze forms,
southwest winds from 10-15 MPH are expected. Minimum RH readings
will fall to 32-40% west of I-95 as dispersions lift into the very
good range. Bottom line, near-critical fire weather conditions
are forecast.
A cold front approaches from the north on Friday, with breezy
southwest winds from 12-17 MPH. Well-above-normal temperatures and
RH readings in the 33-38% range, especially south of Orlando,
will contribute to extremely fire-sensitive to critical fire
weather conditions Friday afternoon. The highest concern resides
across Okeechobee & Osceola, as well as areas west of I-95 in St
Lucie, Indian River, and Brevard Co`s. This also happens to be co-
located with some of our driest communities.
Highs reaching the mid/upper 90s today and Friday will pose some
risk for heat illness for those working in the direct sun.
Peeking into the weekend, even drier air punches down the
peninsula on Saturday as temperatures remain above normal for
areas south of Orlando. The combination of WNW winds 12-17 MPH and
low RH readings from 32-37% from Lake Co. down into the Kissimmee
Basin may again yield near-critical to critical fire weather
conditions Saturday afternoon. Deep mixing heights to 6-8 KFT will
support continued excellent peak dispersion values. By Sunday,
winds lessen slightly to around 10 MPH. However, RH minima will
once again fall to 30-40% over much of the interior.
Fog potential and other remarks... widespread fog is not
expected. Localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or
existing fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
