Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Nashville TN

...New UPDATE...

.UPDATE...
Issued at 816 PM CDT Wed Mar 27 2024

High clouds continue to stream in from the south this hour. It`s
not a thick blanket, but they could affect the amount of frost we
end up seeing tonight, especially east of I-65. Those west of I-65
aren`t going to have a problem getting frosty. Frost Advisory
still in effect from 3 am until 9 am tomorrow morning.

.SHORT TERM...
(Rest of today through Thursday)
Issued at 1231 PM CDT Wed Mar 27 2024

Surface high pressure is sitting to our west and will continue to
build over the area into the weekend. This will bring a stretch of
dry weather. Clear skies and light winds tonight with bring
maximum radiational cooling and we will see lows fall into the
low to mid 30s. It`s early in the growing season but went ahead
and issued a Frost Advisory. Plenty of sun tomorrow with highs
in the 60s.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday Night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 1231 PM CDT Wed Mar 27 2024

Great weather is expected as we head into the end of the week and
the weekend as a strong ridge builds overhead. This will bring
warming temperatures and we will see them push back into the 70s
Friday and up to near 80s Sunday and Monday.

The forecast will become more active again early next week as a
trough tracks out of the southwest into the Midwest. This will
push a cold front into Middle TN in the Monday/Tuesday time frame.
Ensembles are still struggling with the exact timing but most
likely pushing through later Monday into Tuesday morning.
Ensembles are also showing 200-500 j/kg of CAPE and good bulk
shear on Monday ahead of the front with the highest CAPE in
western areas. Still a lot of uncertainty on if we will see strong
storms but the potential is there. In the wake of this system, a
return to dry and cooler conditions is likely for the rest of next
week as deep northwest flow develops aloft.
