...Gusty Southwest to West Winds Expected Today Into Tonight...

As a strong storm system passes eastward across northern Illinois
today, strong southwest winds will gradually spread north across
our region this morning, and then become westerly as a cold front
passes this afternoon. Winds will be sustained at 15 to 25 mph
and gusts 30 to 40 mph will be common. The strongest winds are
expected behind the cold front along the Interstate 64 corridor
late this afternoon. A gradual diminishing trend is expected
after sunset, but gusts over 30 mph will still be possible through
the evening, especially over the Evansville Tri State.

Area boaters, especially those operating smaller watercraft,
should be prepared for white cap conditions, and drivers of high-
profile vehicles should exercise caution.
