Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
613 PM MDT Thu May 2 2024

....A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 9 PM MDT today for
the San Luis Valley...

....A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 11 AM until 8 PM
MDT Friday for the San Luis Valley...

.Discussion...

Gusty winds, warm temperatures, and low humidity will continue
across the San Luis Valley both today and Friday, leading to
continued critical fire weather conditions during the day.

Some isolated showers and storms will be possible today over our
southeast mountains, and later this afternoon-evening over the
plains. More widespread convection will be possible Friday
afternoon and evening over the southeast plains as a cold front
pushes through the area from the north, with some storms
potentially becoming strong to severe.

Saturday will be unsettled, with a stronger low pressure system
starting to move into our area on Sunday. This will bring more
precipitation to the mountains, mainly the Continental Divide,
along with the return of critical fire weather conditions to the
San Luis Valley. More widespread critical conditions will be
possible for our district again starting on Monday and into next
week.

Smoke dispersions will be poor tonight and excellent on Friday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
