Fire Weather Planning Forecast For West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
503 AM CDT Fri Apr 20 2018

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY FOR WINDY AND DRY CONDITIONS,
AND VERY HIGH TO EXTREME FIRE DANGER FOR ALL OF SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO
AND SOUTH THROUGH THE DAVIS MOUNTAINS AND MARFA PLATEAU...

.DISCUSSION...
It will be a windy day across much of the region with critical to extremely
critical fire weather conditions expected along and west of a Hobbs, Pecos,
Alpine line. In these areas min rh/s of 5 to 15 percent and gusty west winds
are expected this afternoon and evening. RFTIs of up to 7 and 8 and extremely
dry fuels warrant a Red Flag Warning for these areas. It wont be nearly as
dry and windy Saturday but near critical to critical conditions will still
be possible especially across areas west of the Pecos river in southwest Texas.
A cold front will bring more moist conditions Sunday and Monday, easing fire
weather concerns.
