Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
401 AM MDT Fri May 25 2018

...A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Saturday morning
through Saturday evening for gusty winds, low humidity, and dry
fuels for fire weather zones 220 through 230, which includes all
all areas from the I-25 corridor westward to the Continental
Divide...

.Discussion...

Hot and dry conditions are expected Friday and through the weekend.
Winds will remain light on Friday, with the exception of a few hours
in the afternoon over the San Luis Valley and the adjacent plains.
Those winds will be below Red Flag criteria, therefore no fire
weather highlights will be needed. The wind speeds will increase on
Saturday, and in conjunction with low relative humidity values and
dry fuels, critical fire weather conditions arise. Currently there
is a Fire Weather Watch, which will likely be upgraded to a Red Flag
Warning, for the I-25 corridor and westward. Critical fire weather
conditions return on Sunday since gusty winds, low relative humidity
values, and dry fuel will exist. Critical fire conditions may occur
on Monday in the San Luis Valley and over the far eastern plains, as
well.

Ventilation rates on Friday will become excellent as the nighttime
inversion breaks by 1PM followed by the inversion returning by 7 to
8PM. Similarly, the nighttime inversion on Saturday will break around
1PM creating excellent ventilation rates, followed by the inversion
returning by 9PM.
