HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION
NWS ALASKA PACIFIC RIVER FORECAST CENTER ANCHORAGE AK
300 PM AKDT TUE MAY 22 2018

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

THE FLOOD POTENTIAL FROM PRECIPITATION IS CURRENTLY LOW FOR THE
STATE. RAIN AND SNOW MELT EXPECTED IN THE INTERIOR THIS WEEK WILL
LEAD TO HIGH WATER... WITH WATER RISING TO NEAR MINOR FLOOD
STAGES AT TIMES... ON THE CHENA AND SALCHA RIVERS.

PLEASE SEE THE BREAKUP SUMMARY SRAK48 PACR FOR ICE JAM RELATED FLOOD
PRODUCTS AND INFORMATION.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...

AT 500 MB THERE ARE LOWS IN THE GULF OF ALASKA AND NEAR THE WESTERN
ALEUTIANS... WITH A RIDGE BETWEEN THEM. OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF
DAYS THE WESTERN LOW WILL MOVE EASTWARD TO NORTH OF THE CENTRAL
ALEUTIANS AND MERGE WITH THE WEAKENING LOW IN THE GULF. FRONTS AND
DISTURBANCES ROTATING AROUND THE GULF LOW... AND THEN THE MERGED
LOW... WILL CONTINUE TO BRING PERIODS OF RAIN TO MUCH OF THE STATE.

...PRECIPITATION...
