.SHORT TERM...

At midday, a cold front was moving across Middle Tennessee. On the
southeast side of the front including the Plateau, temperatures
had warmed into the lower 70s with partial sunshine. On the
northwest side of the front, low overcast skies and patchy
drizzle was holding temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Look for the low clouds and cooler temps to continue spreading
southeastward through the rest of the day. Patchy drizzle or
sprinkles will continue area wide.

Through the weekend, the center of a large, cool high pressure
system will move from Canada down the plains, eventually to the
Mid Ms Valley. This will bring persisent, cooling north winds into
Middle Tennessee. Higher up in the atmosphere, a quasi zonal flow
will bring pockets of moisture and several weak impulses across
the southern states. This will give us a good deal of cloud cover
through the weekend with occasional chances for sprinkles. The
chance for measurable rainfall is generally less than 10 percent
across the north half and in the 10 to 30 percent range across
our southern counties. Overall, we are not looking for a washout
weekend, but perhaps a few nuisance drops at times. Overnight lows
will be mostly in the 40s with daytime highs mostly 60s.

(Monday Night through next Friday)

Clearer skies and light winds will develop Sunday night as
surface high pressure moves closer. This may allow some areas to
dip into the 30s with a risk for patchy frost. Monday will be a
sunnier peasant day with highs in the 60s.

A gradual warming trend will occur through next week with highs
climbing back into the 70s. A weak front will bring a small chance
for showers late Tuesday and Tuesday night. The next significant
rain chance will come late in the week. It looks like an active,
stormy pattern may form for next weekend.

MVFR cigs will continue for the afternoon. Cigs will improve from
west to east this evening into the overnight. The low cigs will
linger for eastern terminals and may lower to IFR for a time
before rising by daybreak. Northerly winds up to 12 knots.
