Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tucson AZ
208 AM MST Tue Apr 16 2024

.SYNOPSIS...High pressure will bring dry conditions and a strong
warming trend into next week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...The strong low that pushed through the central Great
Basin will cause problems across the central and southern plains
today. Weak troughiness hangs back across our area today, but net
height and thickness gains will already be pushing temperatures
back into climo range today. Winds will relax closer to typical
diurnal trends as well.

A strong dirty ridge near the west coast will dominate with a
rapid warming trend pushing temperatures to 7-8 degrees above
average by Thursday. Some weakness in the flow will halt the
warming trend and bring some afternoon breeziness late in the week
before a stronger ridge pushes temperatures several degrees
warmer early next week. Still looking at a possible first 95 for
Tucson somewhere in this mix.

&&

.AVIATION...Valid through 17/12Z.
SCT-BKN AOA 20k ft AGL. Light winds this morning and overnight,
becoming NWLY 7-12 kts in the afternoon. Aviation discussion not
updated for TAF amendments.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Dry with a strong warming trend across SE AZ into
next week. Min RH values generally below 15% in valleys, dropping
to the single digits at times. Typical diurnal wind trends most of
the week, breezy Friday afternoon as a weak dry weather system
pushes across.

&&

.TWC WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
