The National Weather Service in Jackson has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  McCreary County in south central Kentucky...
  West Central Whitley County in south central Kentucky...

* Until 115 AM EDT.

* At 1048 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.4 inches are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Whitley City, Stearns, Marshes Siding, Pine Knot, Strunk, Beulah
  Heights, Wiborg, Blue Heron, Hollyhill, Duckrun, Honeybee,
  Cumberland Falls S.P., Co-Operative and Bounty.

  Laurel Fork, Becks Creek, Hens Nest Creek, Bridge Fork, Rock
  Creek, Cogur Fork, Otter Creek, Laurel Creek, Archers Creek, Bucks
  Branch, Mill Creek, Freeman Fork, Pleasant Run, Elisha Branch,
  Marsh Creek, Bear Creek, Perkins Creek, Roaring Paunch Creek,
  Smith Fork, Shop Branch, South Fork Indian Creek, Indian Creek,
  Little Bunches Creek, Dardy Branch, Railroad Fork, Kilburn Fork,
  Ryans Creek, Beaver Creek, Line Fork, Trace Branch, Big Creek,
  Cumberland River, Big South Fork Cumberland River, Jellico Creek,

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
