238 AWUS83 KLBF 061449 RWSLBF NEZ004>010-022>029-035>038-056>059-069>071-094-062000- Weather Summary for Western and North Central Nebraska National Weather Service North Platte NE 949 AM CDT Mon May 6 2024 /849 AM MDT Mon May 6 2024/ Strong southerly winds developed overnight in advance of a strong upper level low pressure system. Southerly winds pushed gulf moisture into western and north central Nebraska overnight leading to abundant low clouds and mild temperatures. Overnight lows were very mild with readings in the lower to middle 50s, some 15 to 20 degrees above normal. The upper level low will migrate east into the Black Hills today. This will force a dryline and Pacific cold front through western and north central Nebraska. As the front approaches the highway 83 corridor, thunderstorms are expected to initiate and may become severe with large hail, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado possible. The threat for severe weather is expected to end by late afternoon across western and north central Nebraska. As the upper level low migrates northeast into southwestern North Dakota tonight, strong westerly and northwesterly winds will develop. Wind gusts up to 50 MPH are possible especially over northwestern Nebraska. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and overnight lows will range from the upper 30s in western Nebraska to the lower 40s in portions of central and north central Nebraska. $$
