Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California

...WIDESPREAD STRONG TO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WEST TO NORTH WINDS THROUGH
SATURDAY ACROSS SANTA BARBARA, VENTURA, AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES...

.DISCUSSION...
A deep marine layer pattern will persist through Friday, bringing
moist and cool conditions across the coastal side of the mountains.
An inside slider will move across the area Friday through Saturday,
bringing a drying trend and gusty, strong to potentially damaging
winds tonight into this weekend. West to northwest winds will
increase tonight through Friday morning bringing gusts of 35 to 50
mph across the Santa Barbara southwest coast, the mountains of Santa
Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties, with strongest winds
gusts of 45 to 65 mph across the Antelope Valley foothills and the I-5
Corridor.

Winds will strengthen and become more widespread Friday afternoon
through Saturday. Across the coasts of Santa Barbara, Ventura, and
Los Angeles Counties, west to northwest wind gusts of 30 to 45 mph are
possible, with gusts up to 50 mph across the southwestern coast of Santa
Barbara. Across the Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles mountains
and foothills including the I-5 Corridor, Santa Clarita Valley, and
Antelope Valley, northwest to north wind gusts of 45 to 65 mph are
possible. Winds will weaken Saturday night through Sunday with gusts
lowering into the 20 to 35 mph range.

Humidities across the region will trend drier each day, with the
driest areas today in the interior mountains and Antelope Valley,
expanding into the valleys Friday, and down to the coasts by
Saturday. Humidities will be around 20 to 40 percent across the
driest areas and locally down to 15 percent in the Antelope Valley
and highest mountain peaks. Additionally, light rain showers are
possible tonight through Saturday night, mainly focused across the
north-facing slopes of the mountains along the Kern County line. Any
accumulations will likely be less than 0.25 inches over the
mountains.
