Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
242 PM MDT Wed May 8 2024

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for the San Luis Valley,
Otero and eastern Las Animas county through 7 PM this evening...

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions will continue into this evening
for the San Luis Valley and Otero and eastern Las Animas counties,
though gradually decreasing through the mid to late afternoon
time frame. Widespread precipitation is now appearing likely for
most of south central Colorado and portions of southeast Colorado
Thursday through Saturday, which will put an end to critical fire
weather conditions across southern Colorado due to cooler
temperatures, higher humidity values and lighter winds.

Smoke dispersion is expected to be good to excellent across the
mountains and mountain valleys Thursday, and poor to good across
the plains. Smoke dispersion is expected to be poor to good across
the area on Friday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
