Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
823 PM MDT Mon May 21 2018

.Discussion...

Isolated to scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms are
expected through Tuesday, with localized but brief heavy rain,
along with some small hail and gusty winds accompanying the stronger
storms. A drying and warming pattern can be expected for Wednesday
with the possibility of a strong storm or two pulling eastward to
near the Kansas border. Gusty southwest winds will spread across
the district on Wednesday leading to the potential for critical fire
weather conditions across the San Luis Valley. Much will depend on
how much moisture fuels get across this region through tomorrow, but
given the expected spotty nature of thunderstorms, it is not expected
that fuels will get much relief before Wednesday.

The warmer and drier pattern will continue through next weekend with
an isolated storm threat over the mountains most days.

Smoke dispersion rates will drop into the poor category shortly
after sunset, then increase again on Tuesday into the Excellent
category for all areas. A similar pattern can be expected going into
Wednesday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
