Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
408 AM MDT Wed Apr 18 2018

...A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for late Thursday morning
through early Tuesday evening for gusty winds, low relative
humidity values, high Haines indices and dry fuels for fire
weather zones 220, 222 224, 225, 228, 229, 230, 232, and 233,
which includes the San Luis Valley, the lower elevations of the
Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains, and Lake, Chaffee, Fremont,
Pueblo, Huerfano, Las Animas, and Otero Counties...

.Discussion...

RH values will fall below 15% across much of the region today,
but lighter winds will limit the fire danger. On Thursday, winds
will become gusty out of the south and combine with RH values of
12-15% and high Haines indices to bring high fire danger back to
portions of southern Colorado. Fire danger looks to be below
critical levels beyond Thursday.

A Pacific storm will bring the potential for widespread
precipitation across the entire region Thursday night and Friday.
High elevation snows are expected with rain and thunderstorms on
the plains.

Afternoon smoke dispersion will range from fair to very good
today and excellent on Thursday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
