Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
215 PM MDT Wed May 15 2024

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather is not expected this week into the weekend.
A cold front pushing across the plains today has kept our
temperatures cooler, and sparked showers and thunderstorms across
the area as well this afternoon. Some of these storms could be
strong to severe, with quarter sized hail, 50 to 60 mph winds, and
locally heavy rainfall possible with strongest storms. Cooler
temperatures and chances for showers and storms on the plains will
linger into Thursday. Snow chances during this time will be limited
to mainly the peaks, with snowfall amounts expected to be on the
lighter side.

The pattern warms and dries for Friday through Monday with daily
afternoon thunderstorm chances becoming more limited to areas over
and near the mountains. Depending on the progression of an
approaching weather system from the southwest, there could be a
period of dry and windy days early next week in the Monday to
Tuesday timeframe.

Smoke dispersion is expected to be poor to good across the area on
Thursday and good or better on Friday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
