The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  McDowell County in western North Carolina...
  Southwestern Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 245 PM EDT.

* At 142 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 12 miles northwest
  of Marion, or near B.R. Parkway-Little Switzerland To Linville,
  moving east at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
           damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include...
  Marion, Glen Alpine, Old Fort, Lake James State Park, B.R.
  Parkway-Little Switzerland To Linville, Table Rock, Lake James,
  B.R. Parkway-Craggy To Little Switzerland, Nebo, and Pleasant
  Gardens.
