.DISCUSSION...
Dry and mild conditions are expected today as south to southwest winds
5 to 15 mph turn northwest by afternoon with passage of a weak cold
front. A warm front will lift northward across the area during overnight
and Thursday morning, bringing a chance of showers and a few thunderstorms,
mainly north of I-70. Areas north of I-72 will continue to see a few showers
and isolated thunderstorms, especially over the IL river valley on Thursday
afternoon. Breezy southerly winds and unseasonably warm conditions are
expected Thursday. More widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms will
move into the area with a cold front Thursday night into Friday. Poor
ventilation rates will occur today with lighter winds. Strong southerly
winds and higher mixing heights will bring very good vent rates on Thursday.
