296 FNUS54 KMAF 020718 FWFMAF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 218 AM CDT Thu May 2 2024 .DISCUSSION... Critical relative humidity will continue for locations behind the dryline through the period. This combines with periods of elevated winds resulting in critical fire weather at times. Winds weaken over the next several days but elevated to near critical fire weather remains possible. Our next weather system on Monday brings stronger winds and more widespread critical fire weather potential. Depending on how widespread rainfall is this weekend will dictate how far east the critical conditions develop. Recoveries remain poor to the west and good to excellent to the east. && For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office.
