Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Missoula MT

.DISCUSSION...The spring rollercoaster will continue through at
least Tuesday of next week.

Now through Friday, expect cooler temperatures and breezy east
winds, which will make outdoor activities feel a little
uncomfortable. This afternoon, scattered showers are possible,
especially along the Idaho and Montana border. Focusing in on
Lookout Pass, snow showers could produce 2 inches or more, however
the timing of the snow will likely limit any resultant driving
impacts to lowered visibility, especially in stronger showers.

Temperatures on Saturday rebound nicely; climbing a few degrees to
above normal values. This will be shortlived as our next weather
system arrives Sunday, when temperatures will cool again as
widespread showers and breezy west winds develop. Across western
Montana, there is a 70% chance of west winds gusting to 30 mph.
We`ll continue to monitor the need for Lake Wind Advisories, but
if your plans take you out on area lakes, just be prepared for
choppy conditions.

A few showers will remain on Monday, though stay confined to the mountains.
The region will once again warm about 5 degrees or so above
normal. Tuesday and Wednesday, the warmest days in the coming
period, temperatures will rise into the upper 60s for western MT
and the 70s in north-central ID.

.AVIATION...A weak disturbance is dropping southward into the
Northern Rockies this afternoon kicking off numerous showers,
especially along the Montana/Idaho border. These showers will be
in the vicinity of all terminals through the early evening hours.
The main impact will be periods of reduced visibilities,
especially over the higher terrain. This disturbance will also be
creating gusty easterly winds through Friday.
