.DISCUSSION...
A weak frontal boundary will continue to move southward through the
area this afternoon and evening. Very isolated light rain showers
will be possible in the vicinity of this boundary, along with
increased cloud coverage. Rainfall amounts with any light showers
that occur are expected to be around a hundredth of an inch. Minimum
RH values this afternoon will range from 35-50 percent across the
majority of the forecast area, with the lowest values in portions of
east-central Georgia. While RH values are expected to remain above
critical thresholds, conditions will continue to be monitored
considering dry 10-hr fuels. This afternoon winds will be 7-12 mph,
from WNW across north Georgia and WSW across central Georgia.
Isolated wind gusts of up to 20 mph will be possible across the
highest elevations of NE GA and parts of the Piedmont Region this
afternoon.
Drier conditions are anticipated on Thursday, with minimum RH values
dropping to between 30-35 percent. Winds will be N to NE at 5 mph or
less on Thursday morning, and remain light in the afternoon hours.
Wind directions will be variable in the early afternoon. In the mid
to late afternoon, are forecast to be NE at 5 mph or less along and
south of a line from Columbus to Atlanta to Athens, and NW to the
north. Mixing heights on Thursday afternoon will range from 5000 ft
in far north Georgia to nearly 7000 ft in central Georgia.
