Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
304 PM PDT Wed May 23 2018

...Gusty onshore winds across the Los Angeles mountains and
Antelope Valley through Friday...

.DISCUSSION...
A weak upper level trough of low pressure will evolve into a
cutoff low pressure system moving across Central California on
Friday. This will maintain strong onshore flow and a deep marine
layer pattern, with low clouds and fog reaching the coastal slopes
each night and morning. This pattern will maintain cool temperatures
and high humidities from the mountains to the coast. Gusty onshore
winds will continue across the Los Angeles county mountains and
Antelope Valley through Friday, with gusts generally in the 35 to 45 mph
range each afternoon and evening, except isolated gusts up to 50 mph
near Lake Palmdale. Increasing sundowner winds are expected over
southern Santa Barbara County Friday evening and continuing through
the weekend, strongest in the late afternoon and evening hours.
